Global Environmental Pact [fr]

Presented in New York by President Emmanuel Macron on 19 September 2017, during the United Nations General Assembly, the idea of a Global Environment Pact aims to provide the international community with a genuine international treaty enshrining the founding principles of environmental law. Without prejudice to existing conventions, the aim is to strengthen the overall coherence of the international legal corpus and to enshrine a new generation of environmental rights. France hopes that an open, transparent and inclusive negotiation process can be launched before the end of the first half of 2018 in order to conclude the drafting of the Global pactt by the end of 2020 at the latest.
