Preparation seminar at the Alliance Francaise for 70 Kenyan language Assistants leaving for France. [fr]
70 young kenyans from the exchange program of the France Education International(old CIEP) staying from 1st of October 2019 to 30th April 2020 in learning institutions in order to assist the english teachers in the teaching of the english languages,and share with the students the the richness and diversity of the English culture.
These young kenyan students benefit from a 2 days training at the Aliance Francaise and as well as 2 days of training at the University of Nairobi.
Once in France,an introduction day will allow them to set up the administrative procedures and to prepare to meet with the students and teachers for the first time.On the second day,they will work on their roles/missions as language assistants.
In her opening remarks,the Ambassador of France, H.E. Aline Kuster-Menager specified that they will be sent to the primary and secondary schools. She added that the French Embassy was proud to support this program which represents a strong symbol of French-Kenyan cooperation and friendship which promotes the English language and kenyan culture to our young french students.
The ambassador also appreciated the presence of the many assistants and the kenyan assistants in their schools, ” you are representing this broader mobility of students and teachers between France and kenya that i call my wishes…..through your presence, you are encouraging the students and teachers to travel ; you are contributing to the open-mindedness of all the educative community and understanding between people.»
In attendance were Ms. Julie Briand,Cooperation Attaché for French and Ms. Sabrinne Tebessi, the deputy director of Alliance Francaise of Nairobi, as the ambassador explained the sucess of the program, thanks through the work of the responsible institutions (France Education International and the Kenyan universities) but also thanks to the interest of the young Kenyans in France. She also assured them of an educational community in France so as to have a professional and humain experience.
Lastly the Ambassador reminded the students that they were the ambassadors of Kenya in France, coming from arouund the country, from a number of universities, with different mother tongues : the young kenyans are counting on this first kenyan mosaic group to go to France, which will allow this program to expand and for other students to follow.
