On 27 April 2021, France signed a €1M grant with its partners on the ground, the French NGOs ACTED, Action contre la Faim and Secours Islamique France, to implement its Programmed Food Aid programme in Somalia.

Agro-ecological activities will be implemented by agro-pastoral communities in Jubaland, South West State and Somaliland to build more balanced and harmonious ecosystems while providing immediate relief through cash-for-work programs.

The project will benefit over 5,400 households (over 33,000 people), train farmers in environmentally friendly techniques, build and rehabilitate water management systems, provide inputs, livestock and tools to farmers.

This will demonstrate that it is possible to improve production, nutrition and income now, while preserving soils, rehydrating landscapes and protecting the environment for future generations.
