THE OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF THE INSERVICE TRAINING CENTRE FOR TEACHERS OF FRENCH AT KENYATTA UNIVERSITY [fr]
On the initiative of Kenyatta University and with the support of the French embassy in Kenya and of the Kenyan ministry of education, the training center CFTD was launched on the 24th of April 2019 by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof Fatuma N.Chege in the presence of the Head of Cooperation and Cultural affairs Mr. Cyril Gerardon.
This training center is settled in a new building of KU (Graduate School Building) close to the French department where the Francophonie University Association (AUF in French) had already set a Partner Francophone digital Campus up.
The implementation of trainings from CFTD will be made durable thanks to an agreement between the French embassy, the Ministry of Education in Kenya, the KICD (Kenyan Institute for Curriculum Development) and Kenyatta University.
This In service training serves to: Update the skills of the teachers, deepen their pedagogical knowledge, meet pedagogical expert, have access to a documentary collection, motivate the teachers, make the quality of the teaching of languages better, accompany the implementation of the education reform with the introduction and the development of foreign languages in school.
The French Embassy is renewing its commitment to the quality of the teaching of French, including the financing of the training of 20 trainers of 2018 and 2019 with the CIEP of La Réunion, of the training costs for 135 teachers a year and within a 2 years frame, that is to say 270 teachers and the Recent development of the documentary collection of the CFTD (more than 4000€ for books in October 2018).
The center offers a new dimension of the cooperation between France and Kenya regarding education and languages.
