This topic questions the world’s environmental balance and the relationship between human beings and the world. It aims to have a conversation about technological and urban changes, and the development or Artificial Intelligence. “Being alive” also means to be committed, to make sense to our actions and existence itself. What does being alive mean? What is our position in the living world? How “being alive” is a call for action? Such will be the debates of the Night of Ideas.

Join the conversation at the Alliance française of Nairobi on January 30th, 6:30 PM at the launch of the collective work Nairobi Noir authored by prominent writers such as Ngugi Wa Thiong’o, Makena Onjerika, Rasna Warah and others. The book has been edited by Peter Kimani, for whom “Nairobi Noir is an act of excavation, rediscovering the city’s ossified past and infusing life to preserve it for future generations”. Several contributors will be discussing their stories about Nairobi during the launch moderated by performance scholar Mshai Mwangola.
Debate about wildlife preservation attending the Café Science on the topic “Wildlife preservation, are we losing the fight?” on January 30th at the Alliance française of Mombasa, 6:30 PM. Following a documentary screening, the discussion will involve the following environmental experts :
