Informations France-Visas - Kenya

The visa section of the French Embassy in Nairobi will resume its visa delivery activity on Monday 6th July 2020.

However, apart from the cases of residual issuance currently planned (family of French nationals and return visas in particular), only a certain number of visa categories will be processed in the first few weeks, namely:

-  Student visas (short and long stay),
-  Applicants for professional purpose (long stay),
-  Applicants for family purpose (long stay) ;
-  Holders of a resident permit expiring after 15th of June.

If you are applying for a long stay student visa, please note that you will first need to undergo an academic interview organized by Campus France. You can send your interview request to the following address :
nairobi@campusfrance.org. This interview must take place before your visa application appointment at the French Consulate.

The terms and conditions for making an appointment have been temporarily modified: visa applicants corresponding to the categories listed above will be invited to request an appointment with the visa section by email at the following address
visas.nairobi-amba@diplomatie.gouv.fr

The visa section will be open to the public from Monday to Friday from 9am to 12pm at a rate of 9 appointments per day which corresponds to the maximum capacity of the service in view of the health situation related to the COVID-19 crisis. Measures for social distancing and the use of protective equipment will be put in place in order to preserve everyone’s health. Visa applicants will be asked to come with a complete file, their own mask and pen, and will be required to submit to a temperature check. If their temperature exceeds 37.5 degrees centigrade, they will be denied access to the embassy.

Once submitted, the files will be stored for a period of 48 hours before they can be handled, which will further delay processing and issuance times.

The possible issuance of a visa does not guarantee the possibility of immediate entry into the territory, which remains determined by border restrictions. Before applying for a visa, it is recommended that you check whether you are authorized to enter France by consulting the following page: https://www.interieur.gouv.fr/Actualites/L-actu-du-Ministere/Attestation-de-deplacement-et-de-voyage.
