Humanist values at the core of the 2020 World French Lycées Week [fr]
Present in 139 countries with nearly 500 schools and 355,000 students aged 3 to 18 in 2020, France is the country with the largest school network beyond its borders. On all the continents, families from France and many other countries choose French education because of the many assets it has to offer.
Every year since 2017, the World French Lycées Week has provided an opportunity to showcase the advantages of a French education for students in a wide range of initiatives organized by schools in the network.
The theme of the fourth World French Lycées Week to be held from 30 November to 5 December 2020 is "Citizens, Equal and United: French Education to Meet Challenges of Tomorrow".
This year’s theme is focused on humanist values centred on the common good, which have never been more important than during the current global health crisis (need for mutual assistance, appreciation for healthcare professionals, etc.).
These humanist values are transmitted to students through education itself but also through student life (election of delegates, experience of democracy through activities of French Lycée councils, commitment to chosen causes, etc.) and through multiple education actions (sport and cultural associations, school newspapers, web radios, aspiring ambassador clubs, humanitarian and environmental actions, etc.).
Key dates: 30 November to 5 December 2020. The 5 December coincides with the Téléthon, a major solidarity-driven, inclusive and mobilizing event, and 2020 marks the 30th anniversary of the Agency for French Education Abroad and the Généthon, the main scientific laboratory of the AFM-Téléthon.
