Alliance Française de Mombasa

The Alliance Française de Mombasa was created in 1975, by the will of the Honorary Consul of that time, and with the support of the French Embassy in Kenya. Originally located in the Island of Mombasa in the Freed Building along Moi Avenue (the main artery of the Town Centre) it quickly became very successful, reaching 650 students per year in the 90’s, thanks to the then flourishing tourism industry on the Kenyan coast.

As of October 2015, the Alliance française de Mombasa moved most of its activities from the Town centre premises to Nyali (Moyne Drive). Consequently, the Town centre branch was transformed into an annex with 3 rooms, dedicated exclusively to teaching of French. Located in the most beautiful area of the Nyali residential district, the "new" alliance has an expansive garden, a multi-media library, 3 new classrooms and 3 offices for the administrative team.
