Visit to Dadaab camp by the French Ambassador [fr]

French Ambassador Aline Kuster-Ménager, along with MP Fabien Gouttefarde, president of the National Assembly study group on humanitarian affairs, visited Dadaab on 18 November 2019.

France has contributed 200.000 euros to UNHCR activities in Dadaab for 2019, helping UNHCR to fulfill its mission of protecting and empowering refugees. Kenya has hosted refugees for over three decades, making it one of the largest protracted refugee situations in the world. Solutions are developed toward more self-reliance of refugees and to make them an asset for the development of the region.
Aden is a Somali refugee who arrived in Kenya in 1995 at the age of three. He has been able to complete both his primary and secondary education in the Dadaab refugee camps thanks to UNNCHR services. He shared with Ambassador Aline Kuster-Menager and Member of Parliament Fabien Gouttefarde his wish to return to Somalia and his desire to contribute to its reconstruction.
The French delegation visited Humanity and Inclusion Disability centre in Ifo camp, Dadaab, providing care for over 3000 people. They were presented with HI activities in favor of the most vulnerable, notably people with disabilities.
